Program: Construction in the Healthcare Industry and the Impact of COVID-19

Panelists:
Michelle Mader – Catalyst, Mark Allnutt – Haskell, and Chris Morales – Freeman White

This panel discussion will be a comprehensive look into the construction industry, where the funds are being allocated, and reevaluating the types of projects being funded. They will also dive into the changes in designs and the impact that has on the industry and patients. Lastly, they will conclude with how Jacksonville is unique and what exactly that means for our community.

Christopher Morales

Christopher Morales, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, President, FreemanWhite
Chris Morales is President of FreemanWhite, an industry-leading healthcare planning and design firm dedicated to creating high-performing healthcare solutions that help organizations succeed. FreemanWhite’s mission is to improve the delivery of healthcare through design. Chris is an experienced project and team leader who carefully considers clients’ needs, challenges, and priorities to guide the team’s delivery of on-target and patient-centered design solutions. In his 23-year healthcare career, Chris has been responsible for the design of more than $2.5B in healthcare projects. Most recently, Chris mobilized multi-disciplinary team resources to investigate effective design responses to the facility challenges facing clients during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and he led the development of a mobile testing and screening prototype adaptable to a wide range of deployment scenarios. Chris has worked with industry leaders to develop proposals for Alternate Care Facilities sought by USACE (US Army Core of Engineers) and has helped FreemanWhite’s clients investigate options to optimize patient care strategies as the pandemic endures.

 

Michelle Mader

Michelle Mader, MHA, MBA President, Catalyst
As head of Haskell’s Catalyst healthcare consulting practice, Michelle works with national healthcare providers to balance costs and outcomes, helping them grow market share, align providers, and optimize operational processes. Michelle has a passion for healthcare and a talent for strategic thinking, empowering clients to navigate the complex, ever-changing healthcare environment. With two decades of experience guiding strategic planning for large healthcare systems, she has a deep understanding of healthcare reform initiatives and developing strategies for successfully identifying growth opportunities and cultivating alignment within large, transformational healthcare systems. Michelle is an industry-recognized thought leader in the areas of strategy, operations, planning, and implementation.

 

Mark Allnutt

Mark Allnutt, Division Leader, Healthcare Construction, Haskell
As Division Leader, Mark holds overall responsibility for Haskell’s healthcare preconstruction and construction services and has full authority to allocate the resources of the company as needed. He attends all preconstruction team meetings and coordinates estimating, scheduling, value analysis, design review, and subcontracting efforts. As a project proceeds to construction, Mark is present on-site on a regular basis to ensure effective implementation of quality and safety programs, cost control, and project close-out.
