Keynote Speaker: Dr. Heather Hausenblas of Jacksonville University
Topic Description -The Mayor’s Council on Fitness and Well-Being Initiatives and Its Impact on Jacksonville.
Please join us to learn more about The Mayor’s Council on Fitness and Well-Being Initiative. Dr. Heather Hausenblas of Jacksonville University will highlight unique programs including Movement 4 Change and Exercise is Medicine designed to support healthy lifestyles and improve the overall health of the Jacksonville community.
Heather Hausenblas’s fascination with both psychology and physical activity led her to obtain her Ph.D. in exercise psychology. She is currently the Associate Dean for the School of Applied Health Sciences and a Professor of Kinesiology in the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences at Jacksonville University. She is an award-winning researcher, an author, a health advocate, and a regular contributor to both local and national media outlets. Her research focuses on the psychological effects of health behaviors, with a focus on exercise. Dr. Hausenblas is the co-author of six scientific books, and she has published more than 100 scientific journal articles. Her most recent book is titled “The Truth about Exercise Addiction: Understanding the Dark side of Thinsperation.” She is a mom to three young boys, and she enjoys exercising outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and coaching and watching her sons play sports. She resides in Jacksonville, Florida, with her husband and boys.
