Program – CEO, Dr. Leon Haley of UF Health Jacksonville Shares the Strategic Vision and Priorities – Charting the Course for Continued Success

Please join us to learn more about UF Health Jacksonville key initiatives, accomplishments and impact on individual and community health. CEO, Dr. Leon Haley will highlight UF Health’s plans for the future and vision to be the region’s most valued health care asset.

Leon L Haley Jr., MD, MHSA, FACEP, currently serves as CEO of UF Health Jacksonville, Dean of the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, Vice-President for Health Affairs for the University of Florida and Professor of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Haley brings a wealth of experience to his position as CEO and Dean. Rising up the academic ranks to become a professor of emergency medicine at Emory University, he excelled as a clinician, scholar and administrator. At Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta’s safety‐net hospital which serves as the region’s premier trauma and burn center, Dr. Haley assumed increasing responsibilities for all faculty matters and excelled in his role as Executive Associate Dean for clinical affairs. In addition to his roles as professor of emergency medicine and executive associate dean at Emory, he served as chief medical officer of the Emory Medical Care Foundation in Atlanta. Dr. Haley formerly served as Deputy Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs, Chief of Emergency Medicine for Grady Health System and Vice-Chair of Emergency Medicine at Emory University.

Dr. Haley completed his undergraduate degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan. Dr. Haley completed his residency in emergency medicine at the Henry Ford Health System, serving a year as chief resident. Dr. Haley’s primary academic interest has been identifying and evaluating strategies to enhance the delivery of high‐quality emergency care to large numbers of patients in the emergency department setting.

Dr. Haley currently serves as the Immediate Past-Chair of the Essential Hospitals Institute Board of Directors, a board member for the American Board of Emergency Medicine, a member of the CEO Executive Board for Vizient, a board member for the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Jacksonville Civic Council.

Dr. Haley completed the Woodruff Leadership Program at Emory University and a fellowship for the National Association of Public Hospital Program. He has been funded by the Department of Defense, SAMSA, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Healthcare Foundation of Georgia. He served on the state of Georgia’s Trauma Network Commission as an appointee of the Georgia Lt. Governor.

Dr. Haley has received numerous awards throughout his distinguished career.
