Program – Creating the Healthiest Generation of Children Our Community has Ever Seen
Please join the JAX Health Council and Dr. Gary Josephson, Chief Medical Officer, Nemours Children’s Specialty Care Jacksonville as he shares current strategies, best practices and success measures Nemours uses to help our children thrive. Gary Josephson MD MBA joined Nemours Children’s Specialty Care in July 2000. He completed his MD degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical College with Distinction in Research. He completed his Otolaryngology residency at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and a Pediatric Otolaryngology fellowship at the University of Virginia. In addition to his MD degree, Dr. Josephson holds an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Currently, he is Chief Medical Officer at Nemours Children’s Specialty Care Jacksonville. He has held the position in the past of Chair of Surgery at Nemours from 2010-2019, and Chief of Staff at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Dr. Josephson holds academic appointments of Associate Professor at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, and Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of South Florida. He is actively involved and participates in many Nemours enterprise-wide projects. He Co-Chaired the Nemours Physician Satisfaction Committee for many years and has supported physician satisfaction, mentorship, and development understanding its link to better physical well-being and better patient care.
He is very active on many boards and committees locally and nationally and has been recognized for his work regarding pediatric advocacy. On top of his administrative responsibilities, he continues a very busy clinical practice in Pediatric Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. His clinical area of interest is pediatric sinus disease, rhinology, and skull base surgery. He has been named in Jacksonville’s Best Surgeons in the City” and listed in “Castle Connelly” and “Best Doctors in America” year after year. He is a fellow in numerous medical societies and has numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and edited a medical textbook. He is actively engaged in several research projects to include his current work, involvement, and lectureships on patient satisfaction/experience and how it relates to healthcare and better health outcomes.
On a personal note, Dr. Josephson has many outside interests. He enjoys healthier living and engages in regular exercise and outside activities. Mostly, Dr. Josephson enjoys spending time with his wife Patricia, a Jacksonville pediatrician, and his two children Samantha and Grayson.
